Interview with Cesar Perez Ruiz, Chief Investment Officer of Pictet Wealth Management, published in Expansión, Monday 13 March 2017.
Cesar Perez Ruiz, Chief Investment Officer of Pictet Wealth Management, acknowledges that the upcoming elections in Europe pose a risk but believes that the markets are overstating these fears. “The political risk in Europe is better contained than the markets would have us believe. In France, it is highly unlikely that Marine Le Pen will win the election if she faces Emmanuel Macron or François Fillon in the second round. For the EU, a victory by Macron would be preferable to a Fillon victory as the latter has stated his intention to repatriate powers from Brussels. A victory for Macron seems the most likely outcome.”
Cesar Perez Ruiz was appointed Chief Investment Officer of Pictet Wealth Management in 2016. Before joining the Geneva-based firm, he was global head of investment strategy at JP Morgan Private Bank and worked for M&G and Credit Suisse. Among the Spaniards employed by large international institutions, Perez is one of the ones who has risen highest. In his current position, he oversees the investment activities of the Swiss firm's wealth management arm.
